I have a feeling this fellows farm WAS everything to him. It was his independence, his family's legacy, and his honor.

We have lost the sense of personal sovereignty that is necessary to stand up for what is rightfully ours through years of indoctrination that begins while we are children. We should look to people like this for a sense of what it means to be human, and the dignity we are all entitled to.

Between Obama's goals and the economic downturn, it might be time to consider growing palm within the USA for commercial use. Doing so would preserve existing rain forest and farm lands in third world countries and create jobs within U.S. borders.

Sometimes you get to the point where you can't go forward and the possibility of death means little.

I am sure this fellow felt that his land was his life, and without it, he might as well be dead.
