So what about the people that don't consume coffee? I'm one of them, but I am concerned about fair trade in the world. Perhaps coffee is just the beginning.

there are other fair trade goods berlinlife... coffee is just such a huge market that getting it under control would make a huge difference to a massive number of poor farmers...

Fair trade is now becoming more popular, and that is a good thing. It does seem like it was only coffee in the beginning.

Berlin is correct; even if I don't drink coffee I should still care what happens to the people who grow it.

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, much prefer tea (the tea trade is a whole different story) but I was first exposed to the concept of fair trade coffee at a little coffee shop in Eugene OR called Out of the Fog that carried Cafe Mom fair trade coffee. The owner explained what fair trade coffee was and it sounded a grand idea to me.

I am not a coffee drinker, but as far as fair trade goes I buy on price and quality and when I have tried fair trade products it has been a big disappointment. They need to get the product right and the price right if they ever hope fair trade products to be bought in any quantity. Fair trade chocolate is absolutely disgusting.
