Those remind me of the baskets we used to have on our bikes years ago. These I am sure are more sturdy though and a great idea.

I would totally use one of those! Everything I have rigged onto my bike has been cumbersome and not quite the size I want. Great idea!

I agree that I would also use one. Now I just need to get the intertube for my bike so I can ride it again.

What a great idea! One thing I'd like to do is be able to go to the small store a few miles away without having to wait until my husband gets home with the car but having to bring back bags didn't make it easy. I'd actually looked for one of those old fashioned bikes mentioned with the wicker baskets on the front but this sounds even better.

I know what you mean. Having a basket such as this would make it so much easier for me to go to the store using my bike. That is the reason I don't is because I have nothing to carry my bags in that makes it easy.

I think the idea is also good because we can get some excercise riding the bike.....while shopping....

Good idea.. so am I the only person on here old enough toremember when bikes used to come with a basket in the front to carry your shopping in? Just goes to show you, there aren't really any new ideas, just old ones updated!

you are right stav...that is why it is said..history repeats itself....and if something is good enough to be tried out agian...why not....

I live in an area where biking is almost a religion. It's interesting to see how people rig their bikes so they can carry stuff. Some people have bought one of the little baby carriers that hitch on to the back of their bike to get all their groceries home! It's kind of like a station wagon-bike...

That is a good idea, but it isn't lack of luggage space that stops me riding a bike, it is lack of provision for bikes, it simply is not safe to ride a bike around here.

trouble is in london, riding a bike is bad for your health... the lorries and buses never look out for bike riders, and they are treated like second class citizens... apart from that, you can't leave it anywhere cos someone will steal it!

I know atleast in China people do go to offices riding a bike alhough cars are in now, the bike idea can work if more and more people are involved and willing to toss the car keys for the paddles for a change....

This is nothing new! They have them in Germany, for the front and the back. Me personally never used them, but used from time to time a couple of stretch cords to tie down whatever I was carrying. And when I went shopping, I took with me a bigger backpack where things will fit better. I only had a bike and that was the only vehicle I had for shopping... So I shopped little by little and it was perfect.

I love this idea because of the exercise it offers, if the air is clean and fresh then it is even more beneficial.
