Green rooftops are certainly a very unusual concept. While I like the idea of using grass instead of something else, I sure wouldn't want to be the one that has to mow the grass...

This is the first time I have seen anything about this. I find this interesting and glad to see Toyota being a part of it. I agree with you about the mowing aspect of it though.

it's a great idea in theory... but i don't fancy getting up on the roof to mow the grass 'only once a month'..

but green points to Toyota for making the effort... now if only we could talk the rest of the world corporations into doing the same...

I don't think green roofs would ever be a viable option for ordinary houses like mine, but it would be great if it could be developed in some way.

i suppose you could always stick a few sheep up there to chew on the grass and keep it mown that way.... :D

Californians should consider green roofs. In the fire season (which seems to be twelve months a year, these days)whipped up by the Santa Anas, green roofs would be so much more fire retardant than shingles or shakes or whatever they're using now.
